Hansa Bhargava

I’ve worked at the frontlines in acute care, led quality protocols, and cross-functional teams; I pivoted to WebMD 12 years ago (I’m now at Healio) and learned much about media, digital tool, app build and engaging users. This jump started my passion for AI and innovation to solve for health gaps. But building cool products isn’t enough: it is also scaling through educating, raising awareness of those solutions- and strategy, to make impact.

I realized health was the most important factor for happiness and success in a person’s life, early. I became intrigued by the impact of doctors, and nurses but also the challenges they faced when a loved family member got sick. As I worked in the hospital system, I realized it was broken and fragmented. We were not using data to optimize health and outcomes, and clinicians were overwhelmed with admin tasks.

Like many, I was frustrated and wanted to do better.
At WebMD, I hoped to impact health on a larger scale. We built digital tools such as Pregnancy App, Baby App and Symptom Checker that reached a patient where they were. I led projects-a post partum AI/SMS digital tool to triage symptoms, and co-wrote a paper in Nature with Scripps team on innovative digital clinical trials via apps that we did with Apple.

Tragically, in 2018, when my nephew died of fentanyl poisoning my sister and I tried focused on building an AI based app that could warn caregivers of relapse through predictive analytics. I joined as an advisor for companies such as FreeSpira, WHOOP, Hippocratic AI. As CMO at Medscape and Chief Strategist there, I further realized the importance of clinicians being at the table for innovation to be successful: in development, implementation and scaling.

At Healio, my goal continues to be to lift clinicians and better healthcare. I’ve helped to develop SmartGuidance, a GenAI based tool, the Health Tech Community, and guide AI strategy and partnerships in innovation. The vision? To arm doctors with trusted tools for efficiency and accuracy, and form collaborations with accelerators and partners. My areas of expertise are:
– Product development and marketing
– Strategic Partnerships
– Communication, Storytelling and education
I work closely with clinician leaders, and am fortunate to host and produce a podcast Physicianary, to highlight innovative thinkers.

My hope is to empower better health through AI, education, clinician support & integration of trusted solutions. My areas of passion are mental well being as well as maternity and women’s health.
