Siraj Anwar

Siraj obtained his medical degree from the University of Mysore, India and worked as a primary care physician before pursuing a full-time career in informatics. He currently serves as the Senior Vice President and Chief Health Informatics Officer at Harris Health System, which is the 4 th largest safety net health system in the United States. In this role, he leads the informatics and data science strategy and operations for the health system. Siraj is passionate about leveraging information technology, data and human relationships to provide patient care that has high quality and reliability and has been doing this since 2001.

He also currently serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the McWilliams School of Biomedical Informatics at UTHealth Houston, as well as a Voluntary Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Houston, College of Medicine in the Department of Clinical Sciences. In those capacities, he teaches, delivers guest lectures, and provides internship opportunities for the students in the field of informatics and data science. He is a Fellow of the Health Information Management Systems Society (FHIMSS) and Fellow of the American Medical Informatics Association (FAMIA). In his spare time, Siraj likes to exercise, play team sports and travel with his family.
